ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED

The scientific programme consists of 10 Plenary Lectures and 48 Symposia.

Plenary Lectures are keynote addresses by outstanding ornithologists.

Symposia cover a wide range of current ornithological topics. Each symposium will feature five papers, including two keynote speakers and three papers chosen from the submitted abstracts.

Contributed Oral papers and Posters will cover original research or new syntheses. Oral papers will be selected from submitted abstracts by a review panel from the Scientific Programme Committee members.

Round Table Discussions and Special Interest Group meetings can cover any aspect of ornithology. The emphasis is on discussion and exchange of information and ideas. The IOC also offers facilities for meetings immediately following the Congress. More information can be found here.

Critical Dates:
Abstract for poster submission deadlines: Wednesday, April 30th, 2014
Regular Registration deadline: Saturday, May 31st, 2014

Those, who have already submitted abstracts for a talk (plenary, symposium, oral), can also add another one for a poster. There is no limitation on being co-author of posters (or of talks).

Plenary Lectures
Plenary Lectures will be asked directly by the Scientific Programme Committee to submit their abstracts by e-mails.

Keynote Speakers of Symposia
Keynote speakers have already been contacted by symposium conveners. Nevertheless they are requested to submit their papers using the online abstract submission system. Please select your symposium when you submit your paper.

Scientific Contributions
Scientific contributions are encouraged on any topic in all fields of ornithology. There are three categories for contributions:

1. Oral paper to be considered for symposium
Symposia will consist of two keynote speakers (already chosen) and three oral papers that will be chosen from submitted abstracts for contributed papers. These submitted oral papers will be 15 min. long with 4min. questions. Abstracts that are not chosen for a symposium will automatically be considered for a standard oral paper.

2. Standard oral paper
Standard oral papers will consist of 12 min. talks, with 3 min. for questions. Abstracts that are not chosen for standard oral papers will automatically be considered for posters.

3. Poster
Poster contributions are encouraged for the 26th IOC.

Please note that registration is required before submitting an abstract. You will be asked to enter your registration number when submitting an abstract.

Abstract body must be less than 300 words in English. To make sure that abstracts can be properly edited, please submit both Word and PDF files. Download the abstract sample here (.doc file) and make sure to check before submitting that the fonts and points are all fitted to the format:

Font: Times New Romans
Title points: 14 points, bold.
Abstract body points: 12 points.

A Confirmation e-mail with details including your “LOGIN ID” will be e-mailed after your submission is completed. Please remember your password as it will not be included in the e-mail for security purposes. You may revise your abstract by logging in with your “LOGIN ID” and “PASSWORD” until Thursday, Oct. 31st, 2013. Further changes will not be accepted after that date unless informed by the review panel.
